Green IT at E-Society 11
Almost every year someone from Free Software Macedonia is taking a part of the local E-Society conference in Skopje.
I guess this year was my turn, so I had a short presentation on using Free and Open Source Software with older hardware. I also talked about how we recycle old hardware at the local Hacker Space in Skopje and all the interesting things we do with it. The point of course was that you can get your old PC that's sitting in your basement and turn it into something useful like a home firewall/proxy server or a storage server. FOSS really lets you do that very easily and there are tons of manuals and howtos on the Internet explaining the process. Well that and… best things in life are free.
You can download the presentation here or browse it online at the following location.
PS My slides an the presentation were done in Macedonian but there were translators at the conference so if there is a video with subtitles or smth I will update this post.
